Powerball Draws at 10:59 p.m. ET: Buy Earlier
The balls drop at one national moment, but ticket windows close on local schedules. Saturday's safest plan involves two clocks, not a sprint to the counter.
10:59 p.m. Eastern is ball time, not buy time. Powerball's next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at that hour. The equivalent is 9:59 p.m. Central, 8:59 p.m. Mountain and 7:59 p.m. Pacific. Powerball holds drawings every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at its Florida studio, and the official FAQ confirms the 10:59 p.m. Eastern schedule.

The sales window shuts first
There is no universal ticket cutoff. Powerball tells buyers to check their own selling jurisdiction, and state rules show why. California closes draw entry at 7 p.m. Pacific, 59 minutes before its 7:59 p.m. draw time. California Lottery publishes both times. Maryland says sales end approximately one hour before the drawing, after which its terminals begin selling for the next game. That rule appears on Maryland Lottery's Powerball page.
Pennsylvania's current retailer guide is even more exact: its terminal switches to the next date after a 9:50 p.m. Eastern cutoff, despite the 10:59 p.m. drawing. The January 2026 guide lists both. A cashier faced with a closed terminal cannot negotiate with it. Buying comfortably ahead of the locally posted cutoff is the calm move.
Where to watch and where to verify
Powerball says the drawing is streamed on Powerball.com. Local television timing can differ from the actual draw. Maryland, for example, lists the balls at 10:59 p.m. Eastern but its WBAL-TV showing at 11:22 p.m. The state page makes that distinction plainly. So a television listing that says 11 p.m. or later does not move the official draw.
Afterward, verify the drawing date along with the numbers on Powerball's site or the lottery that sold the ticket. Ohio's official schedule independently confirms the Monday-Wednesday-Saturday pattern and 10:59 p.m. Eastern time. Ohio Lottery also routes players to official Powerball results. A screenshot stripped of its date is a very small machine for manufacturing very large confusion.
The pleasant version of Saturday is simple: check the local lottery's cutoff, make any purchase early, tuck the paper somewhere sensible and let 10:59 arrive on its own. The balls have never once awarded a prize for dramatic parking.
