Aaron Pierre's Starfighter Role Is Still a Secret
Lucasfilm has confirmed the actor, the cast and the release date. It has not named his character, so the loveliest clues come from Pierre's memories of the set.
There was real mud on the Star Wars: Starfighter set. Aaron Pierre could touch the constructed worlds, climb on them and feel the ground give a little underfoot. He told GQ that music sometimes played before a scene, helping the actors enter a place that had been built around them rather than added later. For now, the mud is more specific than his character.
Lucasfilm has not announced whom Pierre plays. Any character name circulating without a new official source is speculation. The confirmed cast includes Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams. Shawn Levy directs from a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper.

An original story in a new stretch of the timeline
Lucasfilm calls Starfighter a standalone adventure with an original story set in a period the films have not previously explored. An earlier official announcement places it about five years after The Rise of Skywalker and identifies Gosling's part as a new character. Pierre's casting was announced later, after production began in the United Kingdom in 2025. The theatrical date is May 28, 2027.
That is the safe perimeter of the map. No official synopsis assigns Pierre an allegiance, a profession or a family connection. Frankly, the blank is pleasant. A cast list can be exciting without every corner being labeled eighteen months early.
His first trip to this galaxy was gloriously ordinary
Pierre first saw The Phantom Menace in 1999, when he was five and both parents were working. He remembers a weekday visit to a local theater, a surprisingly short popcorn line and a packed auditorium. In the account carried by Fantha Tracks, he says the film became a core memory and hopes Starfighter can give new viewers a similarly positive one.
That memory has terrific proportions. Not the biggest premiere. Not a velvet rope. A local screen, parents at work, popcorn acquired without much waiting. Twenty-six years later, he was standing inside a tactile Star Wars world while the crew cued music. The symmetry does not need polishing.
Pierre knows how to keep a secret
Asked about his role in 2025, Pierre deferred the details to a future press tour. Fantha Tracks quoted his praise for Levy and the care of the production, but reported no character information. Men's Health likewise listed Pierre in the film without naming his part. Two interviews, same closed door.
So the honest answer is short: Aaron Pierre is in Star Wars: Starfighter, and his role remains secret as of August 12, 2026. Around that blank, we have a strong ensemble, a release date and a set with things an actor could actually climb. Real mud may not answer the casting question. It does make the waiting more fun.
