Ohio Lottery After the August 8 Powerball Rollover

No ticket won the jackpot Saturday, and Monday's estimate has reached $905 million. Ohio players have a 10 p.m. cutoff, a 180-day claim clock and three different jackpot figures to keep straight.

The row ended with a red 7. Before it came 5, 9, 35, 54 and 63, the five white balls drawn for Powerball on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The Power Play multiplier was 3x. No ticket matched all six, so the jackpot rolled onward. Powerball's archived result shows the numbers, multiplier and winner table.

For Ohio, the next appointment is Monday, August 10. Powerball's official home page listed an estimated $905 million annuity and $391.9 million cash value when checked on August 9. The drawing is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. Eastern, while Ohio's sales pool closes at 10 p.m. The national estimate and Ohio's draw schedule answer different parts of the same practical question.

Why three jackpot figures are circulating

A reader could reasonably find $856 million, $864 million and $905 million attached to this weekend. They are not interchangeable. AS USA's coverage carried the advertised $856 million estimate before the August 8 result. That article preserves the pre-draw figure. The official archived result now displays an estimated $864 million and a $374.1 million cash value for the completed drawing. Powerball's home page then moved to $905 million for August 10 after nobody won the grand prize.

That progression is a useful bit of housekeeping. Jackpot signs change as sales become known, and the next rollover creates a new estimate. A careful record therefore attaches each amount to its moment. Calling all three the August 8 jackpot without explanation would turn ordinary updates into a fake contradiction. The numbers are big enough already. They do not need editorial fog.

Ohio's clock closes fifty-nine minutes early

Powerball drawings occur Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern. In Ohio, however, the Powerball pool closes at 10 p.m. on those nights. Ohio Lottery's schedule makes the 59-minute gap explicit. A person arriving at 10:20 p.m. has not found a secret late window. The register and the drawing studio are running on separate clocks.

A basic play costs $2. A player selects five white-ball numbers from 1 through 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 through 26, or asks for a randomly generated selection. Power Play costs an additional $1 and can multiply eligible non-jackpot prizes. The grand prize itself does not multiply. Powerball explains the play and payment choices on its official site.

The advertised annuity and cash value are two payment options, not two piles awarded together. Powerball describes the annuity as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that rise by 5 percent; the cash option is a single lump sum. Both advertised amounts are before federal and jurisdictional taxes. The game's FAQ supplies those mechanics. Personal tax and legal decisions belong with qualified advisers, especially at this scale.

Saturday still made several millionaires

No grand-prize winner does not mean a blank prize table. One Texas ticket matched the five white balls with Power Play for $2 million. Four tickets, sold in Arizona, Florida, Michigan and New York, matched the five white balls for $1 million each. The official August 8 table also lists thousands of smaller winning combinations nationwide. It does not identify an Ohio ticket among those five top non-jackpot winners. The state list comes directly from Powerball.

Ohio's own winning-numbers page is the right local doorway for checking draw games. Powerball adds an important jurisdiction rule: a winning ticket must be redeemed where it was sold. That means an Ohio ticket follows Ohio's claim process, even when the number check began on the national page.

If a ticket wins, slow the scene down

Ohio's current rules give draw-game tickets 180 days from the drawing date to be cashed. Powerball prizes may be collected after 6 a.m. on the calendar day after the drawing. For a Powerball jackpot, the state instructs the winner to call the nearest regional lottery office and arrange a claim appointment. Ohio Lottery lays out those steps on its claim page. The sensible first move is a careful verification, not a victory lap through the group chat.

A larger jackpot does not make one set of numbers more likely to win. Ohio Lottery's odds explainer rejects lucky dates and favorable positions in a ticket pack as ways to change chance. Powerball's prize chart puts the jackpot odds at 1 in 292,201,338 for a play. Buying a ticket can be a small piece of Monday-night theater. It is not an investment strategy.

The schoolhouse line is about profits

Ohio connects lottery profits, not every sales dollar, to education. State law first accounts for prizes and other obligations, and it requires at least half of ticket-sale revenue from the statewide lottery, outside sports gaming, to be disbursed as prizes. Excess funds move through the state lottery fund to the Lottery Profits Education Fund. Ohio Revised Code section 3770.06 describes that flow. The distinction matters: saying a ticket's full price goes to schools would be wrong.

The next drawing will reduce a fantastic sum to six ordinary balls again. That is the appealing little magic trick. Until 10:59 p.m. on August 10, the useful Ohio facts are wonderfully plain: the pool closes at 10, the estimate can move, the odds do not, and Saturday's red 7 left the grand prize waiting for another night.
