Yes, Jeongyeon and Gong Seung-yeon Are Sisters
The singer and actor are three years apart, have shared a home and now share an agency. Their best family artifact is a rehearsal track full of giggles.
Part of the Screen, stage and celebrity collection.
A rehearsal recording contains unusually persuasive family evidence. The actor preparing for her first play asked her younger sibling to record every other character, turning a lonely line-learning exercise into a two-person job. The script kept making the helper laugh, so the practice track ended up dotted with giggles. Gong Seung-yeon told that story about Jeongyeon in an interview published by SBS Star on March 5, 2025. A professional line reading became a family outtake before it reached the second scene.
Keep exploring
The family connection sits inside a larger company story, and the VARO Entertainment explainer maps the agency context without turning it into a rumor mill.
Gong is the older sister
Yes, Gong Seung-yeon and Jeongyeon are sisters. Gong is the oldest of three sisters, and Jeongyeon is the youngest. In a 2019 television appearance, Gong said the two are three years apart and spoke about feeling proud when people recognized Jeongyeon before TWICE had even debuted. Soompi documented the exchange, including Gong's conclusion that her sister was doing well and that she should work hard too.
Their public careers took different routes. JYP's official TWICE page lists Jeongyeon among the group's nine members. VARO's official profile for Gong records television, film and theater roles, plus acting awards including the 2021 Blue Dragon Film Award for best new actress. On August 10, Jeongyeon announced that she too had signed with VARO for her individual work.
Their home life had fewer press releases
In a 2022 Cosmopolitan Korea interview summarized by Soompi, Gong said she had been living with Jeongyeon for about six months. They divided household chores. Their conversations had become less ceremonial and more like the tiny dispatches of any shared kitchen: are you home, please cook this. When Gong asked what Jeongyeon wanted for her birthday, the answer was a joking request that her older sister move out. Affection, but with floor space.
The same interview shows how readily the apartment could become a workshop. For one role, Gong practiced a medical procedure on Jeongyeon's arm using a rubber band. The later play rehearsal reversed the helper and performer roles. Jeongyeon read the supporting parts, attended the show, offered a precise note about her sister's breathing, then praised the performance. This is what mutual support looks like when neither sibling can resist adding notes.
A first joint pictorial, then a shared agency
On June 25, 2026, Harper's Bazaar Korea released the sisters' first joint pictorial since their respective debuts. Soompi reported that their playful moments brought laughter to the set. One day earlier, news had broken that Jeongyeon met with Gong's agency, though VARO stressed at the time that no contract was decided. The finished signing arrived on August 10.
Sharing representation does not promise a joint project, and neither sister has announced one. It does give the day's agency news a pleasing full-circle detail. The actor who once filled a home freezer while preparing for a role and the singer who left laughter on a rehearsal tape now have their individual careers listed under the same company roof. Somewhere, one hopes, those old audio files survived the move.
